Living in a dilapidated stone farmhouse, the adolescent Gelsomnia - oldest of three daughters - is being groomed by her father to inherit the family's beekeeping livelihood. Wary of modernity, stern patriarch Wolfgang keeps his family in an anachronistic state of rustic simplicity. But when a young German boy, Martin, enters their lives, their meticulously crafted world begins to collapse.
